1. How do I install MARA LITe on my d:\ (or other) drive?
- Run the installation as normal, installing to c:\
- Then move the entire c:\maralite\ directory to d:\
- Change the icon properties manually to point to d:\
2. The installation stops half-way
In some cases you need to log on as Administrator, before your system will allow you to install MARA LITe. This is because the installation copies some required Windows components to your System directory.
3. The installation does not run at all
If you are unable to install MARA LITe, do the following:
- Create a directory under c:\ called "MARA LITe"
- Copy the directories called \database, \resources (and \maps) from the CD-ROM to c:\MARA LITe\
- Move the programme file called "MaraLite.exe" from c:\MARA LITe\resources\ to c:\MARA LITe\
- Create an icon on your desktop that points to c:\MARA LITe\MaraLite.exe
1. Error message: "The workspace of the map cannot be found !"
This means that the Maps Module is pointing to the wrong directory, or that you have deleted or renamed one of the *.wor files.
Have you set the maps directory?
- Launch the Maps Module
A message appears: "Please set the location where your maps are stored!" Click "OK"
Another message appears: "Click on "Set Map Directory" button to set the directory..." Click "OK"
- The Maps Module screen now has a new button called "Set Map Directory". Click on it.
- Find the directory where the maps are stored, select any *.wor file and click "Open".
--- If you installed the maps onto your hard drive, find the C:\MARALITe\Maps directory.
--- If you did NOT install the maps, you need to insert the MARA LITe CD into your CD-ROM and select the D:\Maps directory.
I installed the maps, but then deleted them again
Copy the entire \Maps\ directory from the MARA LITe CD to C:\MARALITe\Maps again.
I want the maps module to use a different directory
--- If you know where the maps module was pointing originally, delete or rename this directory.
The Maps Module, when it cannot find the original directory, will ask you to set the directory again.
--- If you DON'T know where the maps module was pointing, you need to delete the map directory setting from the computer registry:
To launch the Registry Editor:
- On your main Windows Start menu click on "Run".
- Type in "regedit" and click on OK
- Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER > Software > MaraLite
(The entry that reads "LastMapDirectory" shows you what directory you had set originally.)
- Select the entry that reads "LastMapDirectory" and delete the line.
- In MaraLITe launch the Maps Module and reset the Map Directory.
2. Same error, none of the above solved the problem
You will simply have to open a workspace manually, directly from MapInfo ProViewer, or if you are a MapInfo user, from MapInfo.
For a list of map names by Region and Theme click here.
- Run MapInfo ProViewer (or MapInfo) from the Windows Start menu.
(- Click on File > Open MapInfo Tables or Workspaces)
- In the Open MapInfo Tables or Workspaces dialogue box change Files of type: to "MapInfo Workspaces"
- Go to the MARA LITe maps directory, select the map you wish to open, and click Open
